Cone-shaped wooded island, Linapacan

December 2025

A cone-shaped island covered in dense forest, with a white sand beach at its base and a deep blue sea in Linapacan.

Linapacan is a limestone archipelago north of Palawan in the Philippines, known for its deep blue waters and karst islets still largely untouched by mass tourism. This cone-shaped landform, covered in dense forest down to the shoreline, is typical of the region's karst geology: limestone eroded by sea and rain into isolated outcrops. The photo was taken on 15 December 2025 in early afternoon, by drone, to frame the whole island and the narrow strip of white sand separating it from the sea. The sharp line between the forest's green and the deep blue water is the visual signature of the entire Linapacan archipelago.
