Sunrise over the sea in San Juan, Siquijor

San Juan, on the west coast of Siquijor in the Philippines, is known for its sunsets, but this image was taken at dawn, on 24 December 2025, when low tide leaves a perfectly flat sheet of water on the sand. The blazing sky is then doubled in the reflection, with the silhouette of a fishermen's pontoon anchoring the composition. The low-altitude drone shot frames both the sky and its reflection without noticeable wide-angle distortion. It is the low tide, precise to the hour, that makes this symmetry possible: a few hours later, the water covers the sand and the mirror disappears.
