Riverside park in autumn, Valka, Latvia

Valka is a Latvian town split in two by the Estonian border: its twin, Valga, on the other side of the line, forms a single urban area with it, crossed by the Schengen border without a checkpoint. The park photographed here runs along one of the waterways that shape the town, away from that particular border. The photo was taken on 12 October 2024, at midday, just as the park's trees were turning orange, the peak of the autumn season in this Baltic region. The aerial framing highlights the paths structuring the park and the contrast between the river, the residual green of the lawns and the warm colours of the foliage.
